I request information on the cargo vessel SS POLAR, which was sunk on 9/21/1944 due to unknown factors, just off the coast of Key Biscayne, FL.

I have already contacted the US Navy, and the US Coast Guard, for any and all information about the POLAR. Both organizations have ‘no records pertaining to SS POLAR”, and recommended that I contact your organization.

All I know about the POLAR is that she was a cargo vessel, and was sunk on 9/21/1944. Also, that there was a hurricane in Florida just one week ‘previous’ to her demise.

Specifically, what I need to know about her is:

1). Where she came from (when she went down)
2). What was her original home port (if different)
3). A complete list of crew/passengers (at time of sinking)
4). What caused the vessel to go down
5). Complete cargo list (at time of sinking)
6). Is the vessel ‘still’ located off Key Biscayne
