GEO ASA gears up in Brasil

GEO ASA has entered into an agreement to purchase an Aker ROV 06 (ROV Support Vessel) at Aker Yards Brasil. The Vessel is a sister vessel to the one ordered at Aker Brattvaag scheduled for delivery May 2007. The contract is worth approximately NOK 400 million, and the vessel is scheduled for delivery in May of 2008.

The vessel will have a total length of 106m, free deck space of 1100 sqm, and accommodation for 100 persons.

The vessel is specially designed and equipped for Subsea operations with a high focus on good sea-keeping capabilities and excellent station keeping performances (DP class 2).

The vessel will be built according to DNV’s CLEAN DESIGN and COMFORT CLASS.

The vessel will be outfitted with specialized equipment, including 2 work ROVs, an ROV hangar with doors and ability to launch ROV on both sides, as well as through dedicated ROV moonpool, a 140t subsea crane, work moonpool and helideck.

The ordering of the Vessel in Brasil must be seen as part of an overall plan to develop GEO into one of the leading operators within its segment in Brasil. The vessel is so far the first of its kind ordered with a Brasilian yard and to carry Brasilian flag.

GEO is now established with subsidiaries in Europe, North- and South America and Australasia.
